A young Irishman (born 78 in Limerick) who joined the US navy to get a chemical eduication through the ROTC. He served 94-98 as a seaman, studied chemistry in Berkeley 98-04 and was stationed in the Persian Gulf 04 as a chemical warfare expert. At some point he erupted, becoming acutely aware of all chemistry around him. He was especially affected by seeing what chemical warfare agents did to living beings on the molecular scale, and overnight became a militant pacifist. The US military and the DHS was first annoyed and then outraged when Doyle set out to get himself a dishonourable discharge – in many ways he could have been one of the most useful novas to the US ever with his military background and chemical powers. But Doyle instead went back home to Ireland, where he got himself a lucrative deal with Dupont Chemicals. That he was rapidly becoming increasingly eccentric and strange was ignored – he was a goldmine as a chemistry. At least they hoped so.

Later development: By 2005 Doyle was already quite erratic and had begun to enjoy the rave scene a lot. The combination of bipolar disorder, drugs and the ability to affect biochemistry made him do many ill-advised things, including “blessing” a number of people with massive doses of neurotransmittors (while removing “bad” chemicals such as lecithin) – at least twice causing death. After doing the same with senior British officials during a meeting he was informally declared persona non grata in the UK and caused a serious diplomatic rift between ENA and the UK. Dupont relocated him to France, but his descent into self-experimentation and paranoia was speeding up. After a flamewar with some fellow novas and hints that the accidental rave deaths were being discovered he had a breakdown and tried to remove his powers or possibly commit suicide. He ended up catatonic. Up until the end of the world he was treated at St. Vincent University Hospital in Dublin.
