Transhumanistiska Föreningen Aleph - The Aleph Transhumanist Association Aleph was founded in 1996 by the members of the Omega mailing list, a local swedish transhumanist mailing list active since 1995. The goal was to create an organization able to actively interact with the rest of society, representing transhuman views and raising interest for transhumanism. At present Aleph still remains a fairly small and tightly knit association, with 20-30 members mainly in the Stockholm area. Its main activities the past year has consisted of developing a website (www.aleph.se), the Aleph Handbook, holding lectures about fields related to transhumanism, two weekend seminars about scenario planning and regular dinners. Current Board Chairman: Anders Sandberg Vice Chairman: Robert Ingdahl Treasurer: Felix Ungman Secretary: Reine Bergström Members: Robert Söderberg and Ulf Holmlund Supplementary member: Tobias Öbrink *** karta http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/PCL/Map_collection/europe/Sweden.jpg *** logo alephdna.gif *** contact information http://www.aleph.se/ Scenario Planning At the scenario planning seminars scenarios about the near term (10-20 year) future were developed and discussed. The result was five scenarios, four exploring how well society can adapt to fast technological growth and the amount of governmental/social influence over the development of technology, and one disaster scenario where the world economy breaks down. The long term plans are to turn the scenarios into articles or possibly a website. * bild escaton? The Aleph Handbook There is a notable need for clear, concise instructions about how to implement a transhuman lifestyle. Most books are specialized towards one aspect (calorie restriction, memory enhancement, organization skills etc) or too general to be of any use. In order to both introduce outsiders to transhumanism and to help the members to become more transhuman we began to develop the Aleph Handbook. The project has so far taken around one year of intermittent work, but the result is a 250 page handbook to transhuman thinking and living. * innehållsförteckning Ancona 98?
