Doom and Gloom in July

Existential threatJust a little announcement: we will have a conference on Global Catastrophic Risks 17-20 July in Oxford. Leading experts on different risks will lecture about the state of current thinking on them. This includes nuclear terrorism, cosmic threats (supernova, comets and asteroids), the long term fate of the universe, pandemics, nanotechnology, ecological disasters, climate change, biotechnology and biosecurity, the cognitive biases associated with making judgements in the context of global catastrophic risk, social collapse, and the role of the insurance industry in mitigating and quantifying risk.

In short, lots of stimulating discussion on how to do something about Armageddon.
