Well, I haven't read any Sheffield except _The Web Between Worlds_ (lots of beanstalks) and _Tomorrow and Tomorrow_ (a lot of very relevant ideas, now when I think about it). I'll add a suggestion at the next update.
Overall, there are likely many books that are very good for BIGV but I haven't read. Swanwick's _Vacuum Flowers_ seems to be one of them.
